I haven’t attempted any haiku writing for many a moon. But I thought I would try my hand. This one was written with a grieving pet owner in mind. But I reckon it would apply to missing anyone who has passed away:
Our lives together
Always remembered
Come on, who else has a haiku to share? I know you do, Laura!
A twilight embrace.
Ol’ Sol wanes to westward rise.
White Moon’s smile awaits.
Beautiful, Joyce! I had no idea you were a poet.
Our shirts’ purple smudges –
the house we rent
has wild blackberries
This was one that came from a conversation on The Haiku Foundation blog! It was a mutual effort with a friend. 🙂
I love writing haiku. I love the way you describe it as little bursts of joy. I have taken that as my own, because it really resonated with me. It is a precise and unique feeling created by haiku!
You inspired me to look for my haiku from my NC adventures.
Here’s one I just wrote for you:
cold river water
peach juice drips from baby’s chin
as she shivers
(When Camille was a baby we took her to one of my favorite spots in NC, Fire’s Creek. The water is freezing cold, but none of us mind it. I bought fresh peaches and fed them to her in the water. No mess!)
I’m glad you’ve taken it for your own! It does describe these little moments well.
Your haiku makes me miss the northwest and northern California, where we went blackberry picking in the summer. I can still smell that smell.
Ripe berry squishing
spiny branches grab my skirt
Cedar laughs out loud
empty bucket
blueberry picking
with my toddler
(OK, here’s another I just wrote. I don’t think this one needs an explanation.)
Ah, we wrote together!!
Very cool haiku! I can hear her laugh.
